Custom Computer Systems (CCS) was established in 1984 by Bill Genzer Sr. in Burr, Texas. Founded during the dawn of the digital age, the company initially focused on building custom hardware configurations and engineering tailored software applications for local enterprises at a time when off-the-shelf business solutions were virtually nonexistent.
From its earliest days, CCS was built on a multi-generational foundation of technical expertise. Training in hardware assembly, circuit troubleshooting, and legacy programming environments—including BASIC, Assembly, and Clarion—began in the mid-1980s, eventually expanding into modern web architectures, network engineering, and development in Perl, PHP, and Python.
In 1994, leadership of CCS officially transitioned to Bill Genzer Jr. Under this new chapter, the company intentionally focused its operational footprint on the Wharton area, prioritizing high-quality, direct client relationships over unmanageable regional expansion.
A Legacy of Technical Stewardship
In 2004, the firm paused full-time public operations as its core expertise was brought inbound to support enterprise-level infrastructure. For over two decades, this technical stewardship included:
- Infrastructure Management: Overseeing the network security, hardware deployment, and day-to-day operational systems for regional manufacturing entities.
- Software Engineering & Modernization: Providing long-term development, support, and scaling for specialized, proprietary software systems.
- Systems Support: Continuing a decade-long role on the programming and technical support team for ProfitFab, an established, industry-specific software provider.
Throughout this period, legacy CCS clients, local small businesses, and community members continued to rely on this deep reservoir of local technical knowledge for independent consulting and support.
Reopening the Doors
Today, Custom Computer Systems is officially resuming public operations in Wharton, Texas. Re-established as a focused, independent technology practice, CCS provides selective, premium IT support, network configuration, and custom application development. We remain dedicated to the same principles established over forty years ago: delivering honest, expert technology solutions backed by decades of proven local experience.
